Established over 25 years ago, Rutland Cycling began life as a small family operated hire centre located at Whitwell on the north shore of Rutland Water. Originally consisting of a fleet of just 80 bikes, the hire centre quickly developed into a busy retail store, and soon a second hire centre was built at Normanton Leisure Park, on the opposite shore of the reservoir. Over the next few years as the business grew, a third center was added at nearby Grafham Water in Cambridgeshire, but gradually over time the old buildings we inherited were replaced with purpose built constructions.
Whitwell is our largest centre at 13,000 square feet with over 300 bikes permanently on display, from top brands such as Specialized, Trek, Giant, Kona, Marin, Scott, Orange, Giant, Raleigh Bikes and demo bikes are also available for test rides so you can try before you buy.
Grafham sizes up at 7,000 square feet, and offers unrivalled facilities in the East Anglia area in addition to being one of the UK's largest bike shops, and houses a demo and hire fleet the same size as Whitwell's.
To cope with the ever increasing demand for cycle hire and sales, our Normanton branch was re-launched as Giant Store Rutland, and is Giant's fifth brand store. Covering 7,000 square feet, and with the complete Giant range on show and a wide range of hire/demo bicycles, the store offers the same excellent service and low pricing offered by our other centres, but all under the Giant banner.
At the start of 2008 Rutland Cycling took over the neighbouring business at the Whitwell -‘The Rock Blok- an activity centre climbing wall and outdoor store. The outdoor store soon took residence as a store in store theme in the Rutland Cycling building.
We offer an extensive range of leading outdoor brands such as Paramo, Arc’teryx, MSR, Thermarest, Scarpa and Meindl.
Our outdoor team are passionate about the products they sell and use. Pop into the store see have a look or browse the extensive Internet available products on the web site.
In addition to our "bricks and mortar" outlets we also have a major online presence, via two e-commerce sites and eBay. We also have a website dedicated to the activities area of our business, Outdoor adventure.
Rutlandcycling.com was launched in 2005, orginally as a platform just for selling top end bikes, but soon branched out into selling an extensive range of accessories. The site underwent a major re-design and was relaunched in March 2010 to become the site you see today. Rutlandoutdoor.com was launched soon after to accomodate the growing demand for camping and outdoor products that we previously sold on Rutlandcycling.com, and our eBay store is a Top Rated Titanium Powerseller dispatching thousands of orders every month.
